Last year, I started being active with the Brew Your Best community. It is the online friendly community site of The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Shop.
I joined the Sharing Happiness Workshop last September 2014 and it had been my first CBTL event. I learned how to do doodle and even tried to create one.
This year, the second event that I attended was “Catch Your Dreams” which happened last March 21, 10 am at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Ayala Triangle Garden. It was my first time to see the Ayala Triangle Garden!
When I saw the park it made me smile in an instant because in between the tallest buildings and buzzing sound of Makati, there is a beautiful place that anyone can hang-out and appreciate the nature.
Makati is quite far from our home that’s why when I arrived at the place, I was a bit early. Miss Nella Lomotan, the lovely Associate Brand Manager greeted me when I approached her.
The guest speakers were Marielle Nadal- Reyes of Craft Manila, the duo: Jenina Arias and Patricia Peralta of Soulflower. Marielle talked about how she started Craft Manila through a paper.
The first space that she had where she had her office and held workshops was in Collective (Malunggay St, Makati). The first workshop happened on April 13, 2012 where two people participated. Since then, Craft MNL now holds 20-30 workshops per month. Marielle ended her talk reminding everyone that ‘dreaming’ and ‘doing’ is something that keeps us alive.
Soul flower is a hand-made craft brand that started since Jenina and Patricia were in high school. They are best friends who decided to put up the business on May 2010 at Market, Market BGC. Back then, Patricia was a full time employee but she quitted the office work and decided to focus with Soul flower.
She advised that making your dreams takes a hard work.
After the talk, we had a free dream catcher work shop! Jenina taught us on how to make our own dream catcher.
The materials are: DMC thread (2 colors), needle, rattan, scissors, feather, beads
First step: Cover the rattan with your preferred DMC thread. (I didn’t cover mine because I like seeing the rattan.)
Second step: Start doing your web with the use of needle and thread. You can add bead/s in between. (It was like doing a cross stich but instead of X, they are loop and hole.)
Third step: In adding the feather, you get a yarn first then tie it in the rattan. Make sure that you tie the knot tightly. Cut the few strands of feather so that you can tie the thread. And voila! You have your own dream catcher!
It was a fun experience making the dream catcher and it was great to hear stories from inspiring women who made their aspirations into reality! I can’t wait to join another unforgettable Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf event!
Summer is fast approaching. It is uber hot right now that all I can think is eat ice cream, drink lot of cold juices and head on the beach!

When I saw a movie trailer last year that Disney will be going to produce a live action film of one of the famous fairy tales, Cinderella, I was excited! I watched the animated film in VHS several times and it had been part of my childhood days.
Luckily, I won VIP tickets for the block screening last March 12 at Robinson’s Galleria. I tagged along a good friend of mine who experienced it for the first time and she was overwhelmed with the free food and reserved seats.
Yes, you can watch a snippet of Frozen called Frozen Fever which was incredibly done!
Let me tell you three things that I truly enjoyed with the Cinderella Movie 2015!
1. Great choice of Characters
Lily James as Cinderella was a perfect decision! Her acting as the poor and young servant is very convincing and the majestic and elegant princess suits her well.
If all Prince Charming/ Kit look like Richard Madden, ladies will immediately fall in love with his sweetness and cuteness.
Cath Blanchett as the stepmother Lady Tremaine was a superb preference. I savored how devilish she scrutinized Cinderella and how you can easily hate her for being too evil. Drizella (Sophie McShera) and Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) heightened the wickedness in the movie. I liked that the two stepsisters were identical and very comical!
Who said Fairy Godmother should be old? Helena Bonham Carter gave a refreshing demeanor with the magical character plus her costume was exquisite!
2. Sizzling Chemistry!
I think Cinderella was too simple for Prince Charming that was my comment when I first saw the film trailer. I quite worried that I would be disappointed with the two actors especially Lily James. But alas! The first time that they met which was the horse back riding scene in the forest, I was already giggling! The two instantly fell in love which each other with their smart conversations. Cinderella might not be a born princess but the way she talked, moved and danced, she was like a daughter of a noble person. And it was good that after the ball dance, Kit recalled that Cinderella was the lady that he met during their hunt.
3. Remarkable Twists and Storyline
If you are familiar with the tale, there is not much change but there were additional angles and plot. I really remember the noisy rats particularly Gus who was with the three other helpful rats, the cute goose who became the coachman and the hilarious lizards who became footmen.
Spoilers alert! Grand Duke was another villain you should look forward to. Another one, Lady Tremaine did not throw the glass slippers, she smashed it instead.
I loved how the story became detailed and they highlighted each of the characters. It was funny from the beginning until the end and I don’t think there was boring part of the movie. Cinderella live action film makes me wants to fall in love right now and have my very own Kit! I cannot wait for the live action fantasy of Beauty and the Beast in 2016!
I’ve been inviting my sister for a long time already that we try a restaurant along Mother Ignacia . I won GC’s from a fellow blogger and it had been with me for months. We decided to have a lunch and before we went to Leann’s Tea House, I made a reservation a few days before. Luckily, we were the only customers at the time. The prompt waiter led us to the 2nd floor and I immediately saw the RESERVED sign for us. We were very hungry that we immediately ordered our food. I love the solemnity and cleanliness of the place, the chairs and table are refreshing to the eyes and ambiance of the restaurant is really inviting. They gave us their menu as soon as we seated. I asked my sister what she wanted to eat. We ordered Jap chae, Omu Rice and Samg Yeop Sal as our meal and I chose Acapulco Breeze for my drinks while my sister settled for Mango Shake.
As we waited for our foods to come, they gave us corn tea which I pleasurably sipping and side dishes (Korean Salad, kim chi, seasoned bean sprouts and potato salad). I’m not a fan of Potato Salad but I greatly enjoyed the Leann’s Tea House Potato Salad. Jap Chae was the fist one to serve to us. I seriously enjoyed Japchae but Leann’s Japchae made me love the dish even more.
The size and the taste of the Omurice overwhelmed because it was very affordable and delicious. My sister and I easily got full because of it but there was still Samg Yeop Sal to look forward to.
Kuya was the one who cooked the meat for our Samg Yeop Sal.
When it was put in our table, I had to teach my sister on how to prepare and eat the dish. I didn’t know that it was her first time to try! I hoped I taught her the right way. The Acapulco Breeze is definitely a very refreshing drink. The banana and vanilla dominated on my taste buds and I truly liked it.
It was a short but sweet Korean experience that my sister and I would happily to go back again Leann’s Tea House. Yes we are going to visit you again!
