Monthly Archives: May 2014

Summer is getting to end soon and everyone is getting ready for the new school year. Most of the students are excited to go back to school while most of the employees are saying goodbye to a long vacation, family outing and beaches.

Yet let me give you something to end your summer with a smile. I am giving away a BOOK which is recommended by cosmo.ph!

Here is the link of the list of the books that you should read during summer and vacation:

Where’d You Go, Bernadette? By Maria Semple was bought straight from Amazon.com, one of the known online shopping sites in the world. It was listed as number 1 best-selling book from Amazon.com. This is actually new and never been read book.

Image

Here is the summary:

Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she’s a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she’s a disgrace; to design mavens, she’s a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette’s intensifying allergy to Seattle–and people in general–has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands. A trip to the end of the earth is problematic.

To find her mother, Bee compiles email messages, official documents, secret correspondence–creating a compulsively readable and touching novel about misplaced genius and a mother and daughter’s role in an absurd world.

Do you have difficulty in finding the book that you like? I also have that same problem. Whether the book is out of stock or I need to pre-order it. Good thing there is Fullybooked! Fully booked is actually my favorite book shop because they can response to your book needs. Whenever I ask for a certain book in twitter, they immediately answer my inquires. I pre-ordered My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares which was out of stock for quite sometime in most of the bookstores. In just two weeks, I got the book!

Image
Thank you also to Fullybooked because I bought the two books of one of my favorite author Christine Feehan. Most of her books are hard to find in any bookstores in our country, I even purchased one of her books from Barnes and Nobles.

When Miss Nikki Tiu of AskMeWhat posted on her blog that she’s giving away seven slots to attend Brighten Your Skin Naturally with Daisy White Workshop with Burt’s Bees, I did not hesitate to join.

Image
Burt’s Bees launched their newest product line the Daisy White a few weeks ago. This lovely product is made from Daisy White that only comes at Macedonia.

The Burt’s Bees first ever counter workshop happened last Mother’s Day in Beauty Bar, Trinoma and I was glad to be part of it.

Miss May Samson, the brand manager introduced Burt’s Bees  to us and I was actually amazed that even their packaging is made from recycled materials, very Eco-friendly.

The very bubbly and friendly Miss Nikki started the talk with skin care.

Image

According to Miss Nikki, the difference between putting beauty products with your face, for skin care it should be upward while applying make-up is downward.

Here are some great tips that I learned from the beauty expert and make-up artist Nikki Tiu while she used the Daisy White products!

1. Choose an effective and smells great facial wash.

2. Toner is use for your skin to be ready.

3. Cotton pad instead of cotton ball.

4. When using serum, you should rub and pat for a minute or two. Let your skin absorbs it.

Image
5. Don’t forget to put moisturizing cream on your neck especially the dark areas of your body.

Image
6. The ring /middle finger is the best applicator for eye cream.

Image
7. Use cleansing wipes before applying lipstick.

I got to wipe my make-up with the Daisy White’s facial wipes! It smells so good! I will definitely try the Burt’s Bees Daisy White!

Thank you so much for the meet and greet Miss Nikki and Burt’s Bees!

The newest installment of Godzilla which I luckily watched before it hits the cinema houses in the Philippines is incredibly different from the 1998 film.

Godzilla is my favorite movie monster and I was very excited when it was announced that it will be shown again. Yay! Honestly, I could not remember the movie in 1998 but I know that the new version is not a continuation from the former. If my memory is right, the last scene in the old movie was Godzilla died but one of her eggs, survived.

Taken from Godzilla 1998

The advanced screening happened last May 12 at SM Megamall, Cinema 1.

The invite!

What are you going to expect with the film?

I listed below the 5 things that you will definitely see!

1. It all started in the PHILIPPINES!
In the beginning of the movie, a place in the Philippines is been featured. I’m actually not familiar where it was shot but it is near the Pacific Ocean. The story started in the year 1999 where the archaeologists saw an ‘unnatural thing’ hanging on the deepest part of the cave.

2. MUTO wants to rule the world.
The said to be strong ‘earthquake’ that took place in Janjira Nuclear Plant in Japan was said to be caused by an ‘unknown specie’. As the egg hatched, a monster which is called Muto started to destruct the place. In the movie, a female Muto does not have wings yet it is bigger compare to male Muto who can fly. What is Muto’s main food? Radiation!

3. Lieutenant Ford’s nine lives!

Aaron Taylor-Johnson who plays Lieutenant Ford Brody is one of the main characters in the film and I must his life is like a cat! He survived almost all of the attack and fury of the Mutos and Godzilla. He was in Janjira when the Muto came out; he was riding a train when it flew to Hawaii, he was only the sole survivor when it attacked a train carrying an explosive bomb and he was alive when the big explosion destroyed the nesting ground of Muto. Wow!

Image

4. Godzilla vs Muto
This is the most exciting part of the movie! The two mutos joined forces to kill Godzilla! Who won the epic battle? You have to find it for yourself!

Image

Image

5. Godzilla as a Savior!

Image
Far from the 1998 hit movie, the Godzilla in 2014 woke up because the humans are in endangered. Godzilla became everyone’s superhero! I was expecting a scarier monster yet Godzilla proves that he is still the most powerful creature in the world with his hair raising roar and incredible superpower!

You have to see the film to fully understand the story. Don’t forget that Godzilla opens in the Philippines on May 15!

I’m not seriously a fan of Havaianas but when I attended the Make Your Own Havaianas last year at Rockwell Tent, I said to myself I should be here again next year and the years that will come!

Let’s go back to #MYOH 2013 (My first time experience!)

Me and my first #MYOH pair!

When I received an email for a private selling for #MYOH, I did not hesitate to accept the invite.

Last May 6, the Make Your Own Havaianas was officially launched with the media and bloggers. Yesterday, it was exclusive for the customers who are part of their mailing list. I invited my friend who is really a ‘suki’ of MYOH who joined me.

This year MYOH takes place at Glorietta Activity Center, more accessible for most of the people but I still go for Rockwell as a bigger venue.

There were three time slots for the invites: 10 in the morning, 3 in the afternoon and 6 in the evening. We had the latter time slot but we were early in the venue. We went to the registration table and they gave us our form where you can check the soles, straps and pins that you preferred for your havaianas.

I like May not only because its vacation which means time to hit the beach but moreover it’s a special month for the only person in our world who had patient and faith for us for nine months and who took good care of us since we were in their wombs.

This May 11, it’s a celebration for our dearest Mother, Mama, Mommy, Mudra, Nanay, Lola, Grandma, Auntie, Aunt and Tita. It’s their momentous day and everyone will greet them Happy Mother’s Day!

And as a shout out for our mothers’ love, care and sacrifice, I’m giving away a special gift for one lucky reader!

*You can do it in any form. Tagalog/Filipino is allowed as long as the three words are there!
