Winning a contest was always a blessing. Truly, I am not a fan of Japanese dishes yet I have tried some already. When I won a gift certificate for the newest meal of Yabu: House of Katsu, I got so elated.
A month ago, I chose to go to the Yabu branch at SM Megamall because it was convenient for me. I had already reserved a table for me and my cousin. It was lunchtime when we got there and the place was totally jampacked. There were families who were still waiting for their turn to eat. I notified the branch regarding my reservation and I was surprised that they had not been informed about it. I thought that the staff here not going to accommodate us. They just told me that they would just verify my name. Luckily, we waited for just a few minutes for the confirmation and then they finally led us inside. Fast service!
As my cousin and I sat down to our chairs, a crew member immediately gave us the menu book.
While waiting for our orders, the waiter gave us something to ponder on a bowl containing sesame seeds which we needed for our tonkatsu sauce.
I had fun grinding the sesame seeds that I did not even noticed that the Soft Shell Crab Katsu Set was already in front of me! I ordered Yabu’s Bottomless Houseblend Iced Tea to complete my meal set.

Meanwhile, my cousin chose the Vegetarian Katsu Set and Watermelon Milkshake for her drink.

The soft shell crab katsu was heavenly. It felt like I was eating at the seaside of Japan and not inside a restaurant! With every bite I tasted the crab which really complemented to the unlimited cabbage, rice and sauce.

I also loved the vegetable katsu set which contains my all time favorite veggies-carrots, eggplant and potatoes. Talk about being healthy!

As my cousin and I were about to finish our grandiose lunch, the manager went to our table and asked us about the food and service. I prompted replied that we are doing fine; the meals were great and their staff was super nice. Yabu is one of the few restaurants that I have gone so far where customer feedback and satisfaction is of extreme importance. Kudos to Yabu!

I really felt like I had not taken a big bite yet because there was still food on my plate, though my cousin and I had been eating for half an hour already! I took it as a challenge and after a few moments… The food was gone!
Yabu: House of Katsu is truly a fine restaurant that serves delicious Katsudon meals. It had a truly awesome and unforgettable Yabu dining experience there. Until we meet again, Yabu!
If you have not visited Yabu, well now is the perfect time to do so. Rest assured it will be worth your money and effort.
